Going digital helps the planet

With our current financial crises an ongoing issue there seems to be no shortage of Radiography Jobs going. This has got me thinking; is radiography in anyway bad for the environment? As much as it is a vital way of determining where foreign objects have found their way into the human body is it detrimental in any way to our planet?

It turns out that the old fashioned way of performing radiology did have bad effects due to the amount of energy it used. But also similar to the fact that digital photography is better for the planet than the traditional film photography, digital radiography also shares the same benefits. As much as using film over digital images does have a nicer feel to a photograph, and there are many purists that still won’t dare go digital, it is important we embrace these areas of the digital age in order to do our bit for the planet. It also pleases me that more and more movies are being shot on digital and as the numbers of cinemas use digital screens we are cutting emissions even further when it comes to being entertained. The production of film causes carbon emissions, as does the processing of it. It uses chemicals that get released into our atmosphere that we could do without.

We need to see more things go digital for the benefit of saving our planet. So don’t be afraid of the digital age it has its uses if we want a planet we can live on in years to come.
